Neuromodulators by a Surgeon
Neuromodulators such as BOTOX and Dysport work by temporarily blocking nerve signals to specific facial muscles, preventing the contractions that cause dynamic wrinkles. The result is smoother skin, a more rested appearance, and in the right hands, subtle enhancements to facial structure — like a chemical brow lift.
Injections are a routine office procedure, but best done by a plastic surgeon who is familiar with the anatomy of the face. While many providers offer these injections, only a select few have the qualifications and training required to perform them effectively and safely. Dr. Rafizadeh personally performs every neuromodulator injection — his surgical experience with facial anatomy produces reliably natural, flattering results.

BOTOX vs. Dysport
Both BOTOX (onabotulinumtoxinA) and Dysport (abobotulinumtoxinA) are FDA-approved botulinum toxin type A products that produce equivalent results in experienced hands. The primary practical differences: Dysport has a slightly faster onset (results visible in 24–72 hours vs. 5–7 days for BOTOX) and spreads a bit more widely, which can be advantageous for larger treatment areas like the forehead. BOTOX remains more localized — ideal for precise, targeted areas. Both last 3–4 months on average.
Chemical Brow Lift
One of the most requested applications at Better Plastic Surgery is the chemical brow lift — a technique using Dysport or BOTOX to relax the muscles that pull the brow downward, allowing the frontalis muscle to lift the brow naturally. Dr. Rafizadeh performed a chemical brow lift using Dysport, noting that this procedure involves eliminating specific muscle activity to create a lifting effect. The result is a more open, engaged, and youthful eye area without surgery. You can definitely lower or raise an eyebrow with Botox or Dysport — and it is an excellent option for mild brow descent.
Treatment Areas
Dr. Rafizadeh treats the following areas with neuromodulators: forehead lines, glabellar frown lines (“elevens”), crow’s feet, brow lifting and shaping, lip lines and the lip flip, chin dimpling (peach-pit chin), neck bands (platysmal bands), and masseter reduction for jaw slimming. Neuromodulators are also used off-label for hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) and migraine prevention.
Neuromodulators vs. Fillers
Neuromodulators and fillers are complementary but fundamentally different treatments. Neuromodulators eliminate muscle function to reduce dynamic wrinkles caused by expression. Fillers add volume to fill static wrinkles, restore facial volume, or enhance features. Many patients benefit from a combination of both — and Dr. Rafizadeh creates a coordinated, individualized plan that respects natural facial anatomy.
