Plastic Surgeon · Morristown, NJ
Plastic Surgery, University at Buffalo. Board Certified in General Surgery. Trained at Lafayette College, St. George's University School of Medicine, and Morristown Medical Center — now joining Better Plastic Surgery in Morristown, NJ.
Dr. Rafizadeh completed a Plastic Surgery Fellowship at the University at Buffalo under Program Director Dr. Mark Burke MD FACS and Associate Program Director Dr. Jordan Frey MD. He is Board Certified in General Surgery and is joining Better Plastic Surgery in Morristown.
A lifelong New Jersey native, Dr. Rafizadeh earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania — graduating Cum Laude while leading the Division I Varsity Epée Fencing team, earning the Gold Medal Student-Athlete Academic Honor Roll and the Kenneth David Chatham Award. He went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine at St. George's University School of Medicine, also Cum Laude, before returning to Morristown Medical Center for five years of General Surgery residency.
As Chief General Surgery Resident at Morristown Medical Center, Dr. Rafizadeh led the surgical oncology, plastic surgery, head & neck, vascular, acute care, and general surgery services — overseeing the entire patient care process from office through the operating room and into recovery. He then pursued fellowship training in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University at Buffalo, deepening his expertise in microsurgery, complex wound reconstruction, flap surgery, orbital surgery, and aesthetic procedures. During his time in Buffalo, Dr. Rafizadeh devoted considerable time working alongside dedicated aesthetic surgeons, developing a refined appreciation for facelift anatomy — including deep plane facelift techniques — as well as breast surgery, having shadowed and worked with top breast surgeons in Philadelphia, and body contouring procedures. He also devoted significant time working with facial plastic surgeons in the Buffalo area, developing skill and appreciation for rhinoplasty techniques for both functional and aesthetic concerns.
Dr. Rafizadeh began his clinical career at Morristown Medical Center itself, working as a nursing assistant in the operating room before medical school — a foundation that gave him an unusually grounded perspective on surgical care long before he entered the field himself.
Dr. Rafizadeh has published and presented at national and international meetings including the Northeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons, the New York Regional Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the ISAPS Olympiad World Congress 2025. His research spans complex wound reconstruction, microsurgical flap techniques, breast reconstruction outcomes, orbital fracture management, vascular surgery, and aesthetic surgery — including a co-authored study with Dr. Farhad Rafizadeh on optimal scar placement in subnasal lip lifts, presented at ISAPS Singapore 2025.
He serves as a PRS PROPEL Mentor, mentors medical students at the UB Jacobs School of Medical Sciences, participated in a UHMLA mission surgery trip to Antigua, Guatemala in 2023, and was Surgical Clinic Coordinator at Morristown Medical Center from 2022 to 2023. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons.
